Though the Big Three is Enough to Compete in the East, Celtics will not Hold up for a Title Run

(Ray Allen, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett will Bring Boston Glory, but not complete Glory)

Its Plastered all over, Celtics General Manager Danny Ainge has been saying it since Acquiring Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett this season. One glance that the Celtics website and you will witness it on the front banner. Think Big. Sure, the Celtics have built a strong core that will surely be successful in the weakened East, but the lack of defense, ball handling, and depth are good enough reasons to defeat the idea of thinking big.

Sure, Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, and Paul Pierce on the same court is intriguing, and so far seems to work, going 3-0 to start the season, but overall this team is not ready for championship basketball. All championship basketball has a great defensive core, led by strong yet quick guards. Beyond Kevin Garnett, this team doesn't have anyone who can step up on the defensive side. Pierce, who might be the worst defensive small forward and Allen, who has declined defensively since his days in Milwaukee will make it hard to stop opponents. Luckily, the Celtics compete in the Lackluster East, where there are only a few teams with potent offenses. Adding to this horrid defense is youngster Rajon Rondo, who has often been said to play worse defense than a high school point guard. adding to his defensive problems is the fact that he does not have the experience in ball handling that most point guards do. The veteran ability of the rest of the starting lineup should be able to cover that. Another issue seems to be rebounding, where the Celtics will hope that Kendrick Perkins can make some sort of impact. Garnett, who currently pulls down 15 rebounds a game will be the only way that this team will score second-chance points. Once Garnett, Allen and Pierce are taken out of the lineup this team is horrendous. Though Eddie House and James Posey are good options of the bench, the Celtics do not have anyone beyond that. there is not a player that can come in and shut down a player defensively.

The Celtics will compete in the East, but when the powers of the west come knocking, there is no way this team would hold up. Celtics fans better hope all three stay healthy, or this could be a long season for fans of this legendary franchise. Finally, doesn't anyone realize neither Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett or Paul Pierce have ever brought home a championship? Plus, superstar pairs only work in two...... (Kobe and Shaq, D-Wade and Shaq, Jordan and Pippen, Stockton and Malone... the list goes on and on....)

Final Line: The Celtics will finish in the top 4 of the east, but will struggle when it comes to the playoffs
