Wow, I feel like im consulting on a 1998 fantasy team, but I'm going to do it. This week, It's time to pick up Mr. Nomar Garciaparra off the waiver wire.

Though his numbers aren't super impressive, he has looked good in a short time back from the disabled list. He is hitting .288 with four dingers and five teen RBIs. And once Nomar gets on, he is known for going into spurts. If you need someone to back up at either shortstop, third base or first base, he could be the answer. And with Colorado on slate, in Colorado, the numbers will only get better.

With the weak shortstop market out there, Garciaparra could be a great option. He will not strike out hardly at all, increasing his chance to get on base. He still does have some power, which is really valuable at the shortstop position, and with Andruw Jones back, he could have some really great protection in the Dodgers lineup. Heck, its worth a shot isn't it? I feel like it is a reach a bit, but why not. He is Nomar. the Batting Glove adjusting, feet kicking phenom.

Other Solid Pick Ups:

Chris Volstad, SP Florida Marlins - In two starts, Florida's number one prospect has been lights out. Six strikeouts in 10 innings pitched has shown that his stuff is very possibly ready for the full big league workload.

Luke Scott, OF Baltimore - After a great weekend, including three home runs in two games, It might be worth it to give Scott a spot on your roster. For a fourth or fifth outfielder on your roster, he will have some really good numbers.

Mike Aviles, SS Kansas City - Aviles is another stop gap in the lack of depth at shortstop. The Youngster is hitting the ball really well, even though many have focused on his defensive ability so far. I would give him a shot if you can.

Nick Blackburn, SP Minnesota - Sure he isnt going to strike out a bunch of hitters, but he will control a game and keep it low scoring with a good amount of innings. It is surprising that he isnt even in talks for AL rookie of the year. He is holding a 3.65 ERA in his rookie campaign.
