Whew, It feels good to be back. I missed posting yesterday because of work, but I am back and better than ever. Let's take a look at some of the news circulating.

Top Stories:

  • Brett Myers has accepted an assignment to AAA. Myers has struggled all season to maintain any consistency. While it makes sense for him to accept the deal, because the Phillies have a good chance at being playoff bound, I am a bit surprised to see he didn't take his chances elsewhere. It must have been a agreed option. Myers could back to bullpen if anyone gets injured, but I think he will be back soon enough. It could also mean the Phillies are looking for pitching help. We will wait to see how that one pans out.
  • It seems that the Rays have increased interest in Rockies closer Brian Fuentes. Troy Percival will hit the DL yet again. Fuentes would be an interesting addition to this ball club. If any deal the Rays could make seems possible, this one has the best chance of happening. Fuentes has one of the best slurves in the game. Fuentes could be dealt to a number of teams. He seems to be the best reliever available. Who would think the Rays would have the best record in the league? My goodness, it's amazing.
  • According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, three major league scouts were in attendance to take a look at reliever David Weathers. John Fay, who covers the Reds, feels that Weathers and fellow reliever Jeremy Affeldt could be the most talked about Reds players being dealed. I believe some team has to be desperate to go after Weathers. But hey, that might just be me.
Well that is all for now. I will have the prospect profile we missed yesterday for you in a bit.
