Wow, I just woke up and flipped the Tube on, just to make sure that the All-Star game did indeed end. Man, lets say Lidge gets out of that jam... What is Selig's next move? It was one of the best I have watched in a long time. Until I fell asleep in the 13th.... It's ok though, I woke up just in time to catch the end of the game.

Ok, enough talk about this all-star game, let's get right to the Juicy Stuff.

  • As much as I hate talking about HGH and Roger friggen Clemens, he is in the news again. According to the New York Post, Kirk Radomski handed over shipping reciepts for HGH sent to Clemens' house in 2002 and 2003. Makes sense. I really hope this nails the idiot for trying to file a defamation suit. The only thing that defamed your character Mr. Clemens is your own acts. And I hope you pay for it. I know it was an ERA, and that the hitters he was pitching to were jacked up even more than he was, and I am ok with that. But when you continuously deny your actions, well you deserve everything that is about to happen to you. Just admit it Roger, your acts weren't natural.
  • Good Ol' Bud Selig told the New York Times that there is a possibility that instant replay could be used during the post season. Man, he sure is pushing this replay notion. Early reports stated that MLB would try to use it in the Arizona Fall league and Spring training to pan things out. All I have to say is it better be perfect, because if instant replay makes a mistake in the postseason, a lot of fans are going to be pretty upset.
  • Could Barry Bonds be in pinstripes after the All-Star Break? The New York Daily News believes its a possibility, seeing that Hideki Matsui is going to be out for a good amount of time. I'm not buying it. There are better hitters available at the deadline that can play the outfield as well. So why go after Bonds? I dont know, maybe they are eying on Clemens too. I wonder when the Bonds rumors will end. 2011?
Olney's Latest:

  • Olney writes a nice piece on George Steinbrenner, in light of his appearance at Yankee Stadium yesterday. He also links to other sports writer's take on his appearance last night. I cant believe i felt emotion reading about it. Who would have known.
  • It seems that the Phillies are keeping tabs on Oakland starter Joe Blanton. That seems like a very good match up trade wise. I have no doubt that Billy Beane will inquire on the availability of Carlos Carrasco. I don't know if the Phillies would be willing to make that deal, but who knows. But with Brett Meyers making a comeback, it doesn't seem the Phils feel like they have to make a move. If Meyers responds, it will be quiet in the city of brotherly love.
  • The Price for Xavier Nady might be a bit much according to Olney. Many teams will be considering other options because Nady is arbitration eligible in 2009. Hmm, If you are the Pirates, why not try and ask for more? It won't hurt. When it comes time to deal though, you have to dump Nady and give the kids a chance to prove themself. Andrew McCutchen's time seems to be right now.
Stay tuned. Later today we will take a look at the US Olympic Roster announced later today.
