According to MLB.com, the Rays have confirmed that 5 tool prep infielder Tim Beckham will be their selection with the first pick of the draft. Though many haven't had success with early drafted prep stars, the Rays have seen success with Delmon Young and Josh Hamilton has seen recent success with the Reds and Texas Rangers.

It will be interesting to see the Pirates and Royals next move as they now know who is going to the Rays. The draft selections should be less sporadic now in the early picks. They have an idea of who is going where.
