After being diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Immune Deficiency Syndrome, Rocco Baldelli's career was thought to be over. It was impossible for Baldelli to stay out on the field. Baldelli put it in his own words in late March:

“My body is literally spent after a very short amount of time out on the field, which makes it extremely frustrating and difficult,” he said, at times appearing on the verge of tears. “But it’s something that’s kind of a reality right now, something we’re dealing with the best that we can.”

With one year left on his current deal, it almost seemed imminent that the Rays would release him. Now, while on the 60 day Disabled list, Baldelli is trying to make a comeback. After going one for six in an extended spring training game, Baldelli will go through two more sessions before the Rays choose where to send Baldelli for a rehab assignment. Its good to hear that the youngster is still giving it a run. Baldelli has a career .282 average and has been known as a great base runner for quite some time.
