Clayton Kershaw What?

While the destined youngster has struggled, going 0-2 with a 4.39 ERA, while walking 22 hitters in 33 innings, Eric Stults has put together two solid starts. At the young age of 28, It has been a long road. But it looks like he has finally made it to the bigs. Replacing Brad Penny in the rotation, Stults has impressed. Though the lefty is probably not a permanent option in your rotation, He is surely worth a spot start.

In his two starts this season, Stults has held hitters to a .185 average. In one of those starts, against the powerful right handed lineup of the Chicago White Sox, He went the distance. Only giving up one run on ten hits. And it seems that his control has been one of the major reasons for his success. In AAA, Stultz had a wonderful 2.48 K/BB ratio and 1.32 WHIP. His sample size in the majors is still too small to judge, but it seems that he is heading the right way. Stults has only walked two in his 15 innings of work.

Though he isn't the sexiest possible pick up this week, and he isn't going to be flashy in the stat column, I think it is worth giving Stults a few starts. Heck, if you like me and you have Clayton Kershaw on your roster, why not make the swap? Stults is owned in only 10 % of ESPN leagues.
