Horacio Ramirez has finally been given a shot with a major league team. The free agent was signed by the Kansas City Royals with a minor league deal yesterday. Ramirez was released in March by the Seattle Mariners after a rough 2007. Ramirez will go through an extended spring training session and then head to AAA Omaha. Ramirez could bring similar numbers to the Royals as Brett Tomko, John Bale or could replace Luke Hochevar if he struggles in the season. This is a good signing by the Royals because it gives them a lot of depth. Ramirez has been a long reliever and a starter in his career and was once known as a pretty good ground ball pitcher. Ramirez was the first featured in the Dexter-Sports Free Agent Profile.
