Hot off the Press. Hot off the press! Here are you links for today.

  • El Lefty Malo comments on the, "Buster Conspiracy." I say nothing to worry about yet. He is going to be a good catcher. Over reacting at this point in the game isn't going to make him that much better.
  • The Red Sox are not retaining first base coach Luis Alicea. Apperently Alicea was quite surprised and shocked. I dont blame him. He has done a fine job tuning that infield. It will be interesting to see who replaces him.
  • Jack Z is the man in Seattle. The Mariners were able to steal him away from the Brewers. Zduriencik deserves this job and will develop a lot of young talent, as well as find it throught the nation. I think this will also establish the Mariners as more of a threat in dominican signings and international findings beyond Japan. Man does this make me feel smart to call this one right four months ago.
  • The Cubs are trying to come up with new ideas to try and bolster their offense. According to the Chicago Sun Times, Pinella and company discussed moving Alfonso Soriano out of the lead-off slot in '09. To me, that makes a lot of sense. Ryan Theriot has been spectacular as a lead-off hitter. As always, the organization also discussed bringing in more lefty power. It seems that is always the Cubs' number one priority.
  • Drunk Jays Fans responds to JP Riccardi talking to Ken Rosenthal in his latest peice on fox sports. The Post talks about the possibility of Manny coming to Canada to play ball, among others.
  • And Finally, The New York Times asks, "Do the Rays Have a Panic Button?" It's these type of articles early in seasons, that end up blowing up in the author's face. Sure, only 36 percent of game one losers go on to win the world series. But come on, do we have to discuss this already? Isn't bad enough that BJ Upton and Evan Longoria went 0-8 and didnt produce in critical situations? I guess not. I still think the Rays have a wonderful shot. After all, they have been the come back kids.
