The Mets have fired manager Willie Randolph and coaches Rick Peterson and Tom Neito have also been dismissed from the Mets. The decision comes early in the night, around 3 AM. Omar Minaya was the one who pulled the trigger.
Former White Sox manager Jerry Manuel will take over for the Mets on an Interim basis. Manuel is a quiet manager who has had success before.
This is just horrible timing to fire a manager. It should of happened earlier in the year. Manuel will now try and turn over a team that is expected to win the National League Crown. A press conference will be held at 5 PM on ESPN.
