AJ Burnett would not mind pitching for a real contender. Burnett was quoted in the Chicago Sun Times as saying that he wouldn't mind playing for a team and city where baseball is "breakfast, lunch and dinner."

Though Burnett said he will give it all in Toronto, his voice was quite clear in the fact that he would love to be traded to a real contender. The Cubs seem to be a favorite, but with the Cubs in contention for C.C. Sabathia, he might not be the first on the Cubs Radar. If Sabathia is dealt soon though to the Yankees or Red Sox, then we could see the Cubs swing a deal. Lets take a look at a few teams that could use Burnett.

Detroit Tigers: Detroit has lost Jeremy Bonderman for the year and with their pitching woes, they could really use another top notch starter. GM Dave Dombrowski is also familiar with Burnett from his Florida days. If Dontrelle Willis can come back with his top notch stuff, Burnett would complete a top notch rotation that might be better than when the year started. Plus, they would be willing to pay for Burnett's contract.

Milwaukee Brewers: The Brewers could sneak into talks for two reasons. One being that they could actually use a starter that will go 6 or 7 innings. The combination of Ben Sheets and Burnett could kill a lot of innings and keep this bullpen fresh. Burnett could also replace Sheets in the rotation next season if he chooses not to opt out. Secondly, they could block the Cubs from acquiring him if they fall out of the C.C. Sabathia chase. The Brewers have a lot of prospects that would fit the needs of the Jays.

LA Dodgers: Joe Torre would love to add another pitcher to his rotation, especially if Brad Penny continues to struggle. The Jays might ask for too much though, because of the dominating youngsters that are a major part of the Dodger organization. The Dodgers could cut ties with one of their young outfielders at this point if need be.
